A self-styled gerontrepreneur, Dr. Demko directed Michigan's Delta College to national prominence in the field of aging in 1975 by innovating curriculum strategies heralded as the "Aging Education Continuum", a grand theory of educational gerontology. By 1984, as Vice President of Florida's College of Boca Raton, Dr. Demko spearheaded that college's transition from a two-year school serving 400 students into a bachelor's and graduate degree granting institution serving over one thousand students. A foundation award of $4.3 million, orchestrated by Demko, supported the transition from community college to university status.
